Introduction to Floral embroidery (live online)

This beginners level hand embroidery workshop is two and a half hours long and take space online via Zoom which is a really easy to use platform for online meetings (this is something you must have access to in order to do the workshop). Information on how to download this and what you will need for the workshop will be sent via email once your purchase is completed.

What will you learn?

In this workshop you will learn a variety of ways of using hand embroidery to create floral designs, inspired by Lora’s own work, you will learn some techniques for creating petals, centres, stems and leaves, some of which Lora showcases in her book Stitch in Bloom. You will learn some core embroidery stitches and how you can use them with a variety of materials to produce different outcomes. Each participant will come away with a floral sampler and some new ideas and techniques to work with, all using hand embroidery.

Materials

Participants will need:

  • A square of calico (roughly 40x40cm)

  • A variety of embroidery needles

  • 1 x Packing needle or upholstery needles

  • Embroidery thread in a few different colours

  • A reel of standard sewing thread

  • A variety of small strips of materials to use in the workshop such as soutache braid, ribbon, wool yarn, and fabric strips

  • Small sharp scissors

  • A pencil

  • A small (6 inch) sewing hoop or similar size

Full information will be sent out when tickets are purchased, there will not be a recording of this workshop made, the workshop is for the live online workshop only.

Refund Policy

We can refund your ticket up to one week in advance of the day of your workshop.
