Online Beginners Hand Couching Workshop
Saturday 21st March 2026, 18:00-20:00 GMT on Zoom
This beginners level hand embroidery workshop is two hours long and take space online via Zoom which is a really easy to use platform for online meetings (this is something you must have access to in order to do the workshop). Information on how to download this and what you will need for the workshop will be sent via email once your purchase is completed. The workshop will be available re-watch for two weeks after the class which will be sent via email soon after the workshop is finished.
What will you learn?
In this workshop you will learn a traditional hand embroidery technique called couching, which is a technique Lora showcases in her book Stitch in Bloom. You will learn the basics of the techniques and how using different materials can change the outcome of your embroidery. This is an experimental technique which we hope will enable you to play with materials and learn about the versatility of the stitch.
What you will need:
A square of calico (roughly 20x30cm)
1 x embroidery needle
A couple of lengths of embroidery thread/floss
A variety of small strips of materials to use in the workshop such as braid, ribbon, wool yarn, and fabric strips (a more detailed list will be sent prior to workshop)
Small sharp scissors
A pencil
A small (6 inch) sewing hoop or similar size
A reel of standard sewing thread (one or a couple of different colours if you have them)
Any other materials you would like to try couching with
Refund Policy
We can refund your ticket up to two weeks in advance of the day of your workshop. The class will be recorded and available to view for two weeks if you cannot make the actual event day and time.
If you ask for a refund after that time we will not be able to refund your ticket. It may be possible to transfer your ticket to a future workshop date. Please contact Lora if you have any questions at hello@loraavedian.com
