This is a one day workshop, taking place in person at the beautiful Porth-en-Alls, Prussia Cove in Cornwall. The first time Lora has done a workshop in Cornwall - one of her favourite places in the UK! The embroidery class will be inspired by local Cornish flora and fauna that we will be surrounded by in the beautiful location. The class take place a day after the Beltane retreat weekend run by seasonal florist Joanne Game and so there will also be be lots of cut British flowers from the retreat to inspire us too. During the class each student will make a textile artwork consisting of a selection of techniques that Lora likes to work with. Lora will give you access to her materials and show you her tricks and tips to create a beautiful floral artwork. Students will work with a mixture of materials such as ribbons, braids, and threads to create joyful embroideries full of texture and colour. Lora will show you how to mount your work over mount board at the end of the class, ready to be framed.

Only basic sewing skills necessary for the class, but could also benefit people who are more experienced and would like to broaden their knowledge. Tea, coffee, snacks and lunch will be included in the ticket price and provided by a local chef using seasonal ingredients.

Techniques you will learn:

  • Couching stitch with braid and ribbon
