Silk Flower making workshop
One day workshop in Lora’s studio
This is a one day workshop is taking place in person on Wednesday 2nd July 2025 . Depending on how many students are attending, we will either be in a large light space at the top of Lora’s studio building or in her own studio space. The class is for any level, if you are more advanced then you can take the techniques further, or you can just stick to simpler styles. There will be a good amount of hand sewing in this class, so ideally you would know some very simple sewing techniques but that is not a requirement to do the workshop.
Lora will teach you how to make two three-dimensional silk flower stems. She will show you how to make the stem, the petals, leaf, and centre and how to put it all together. You will come away with at least two flowers, depending on how fast you work!
In addition, you will get a short tour of Lora’s studio and she will show you her sample portfolio as part of the workshop.
Two flower styles you will learn to make:
Closed ‘peony’ style
Open ‘cosmos’ style with a centre
Workshop date: Wednesday 2nd July 2025
Workshop time: 10am-5pm with half an hour lunch break in from 1pm
Location: Fusion Arts Studios, Kingston-Upon-Thames
Located a 5 minute walk from Kingston overground station, with many car parks in the area, and bus stops just outside the door of the studio.
Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, and the workshop space is in the centre of town with lots of places to purchase lunch and any other things you might need.
Accessibility note: The only way to access my studio space is via stairs, the lifts in the building are not working, therefore I cannot accommodate anyone who is unable to walk up several flights of stairs. Please accept my apologies about this!
