Leaf Branch Embroidered Bolster - MADE TO ORDER
Now made to order - lead time 4 - 6 weeks
For this branch design bolster cushion Lora found inspiration in her research into an archive of folk drawings made by Pennsylvania Germans who lived in rural parts of southeastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding region in the 1700s and 1800s. The cushion has the addition of two beautiful tie details as the closure on the back.
The piece is embellished using a textile technique called applique to get the silhouettes of the leaf shapes. Theses are all cut by hand, and then embroidered around the edges to fix them in place using a freehand embroidery machine. The flower is also done on the freehand embroidery machine.
Each cushion is hand made in Lora’s south London studio.
Materials: Salmon and Oat Scottish linen woven in a factory in Fife 100% linen, linen backing.
Embroidery: Italian linen with ceramic and rayon threads
Dimensions: 60 x 20cm , with duck feather filling.
Through Lora’s work she has uses a combination of hand and machine embroidery with exquisite attention to detail. Each piece is totally unique and her combinations of materials reflect Lora’s training in mixed-media textiles at the Royal College of Art.
Dry clean inside out only, do not wash in a machine or tumble dry.
