This quilted textiles was made for Felt Collections Exhibition at Stubbs Studio, UK. It is one of two pieces made for the show which can be used as practical objects or decorative on a wall. The work reflects Lora’s trip to visit a friend in Nice, and her sketches, and photographs of her trip. each piece is a one of a kind, made in the by Lora in her South-West London Studio. For each piece she used wool wadding which was bought as industrial waste from a UK manufacturer, and remnants of linen fabric that were left over from previous projects. The colours are carefully considered to reflect the colour palette of Nice and the neighbouring town Antibes. She used a combination of hand and machine embroidery and quilting techniques, and both pieces are backed with a large white French linen sheet bought from antique markets. These are very special pieces, and personal to Lora, she hopes you enjoy them as much as she enjoyed making them.
