Al Fresco ~ Cafe Curtain Collection

Drawing directly from Lora Avedian’s own garden - featuring ferns, cosmos, and Ammi majus and abstract twisted willow - the collection is rooted in the idea of bringing the outside in. Designed to let nature exist at the window year-round, Al fresco offers a sense of growth and softness even in winter, on grey days, or when the garden lies dormant. Each cafe curtain brings the garden border right up to the glass, offering privacy while preserving light, and infusing interiors with a quiet, organic sense of calm.

The Al fresco collection features three distinct designs:

  • Garden Border – an abundant arrangement of flowers inspired by classic garden planting

  • Wild Ferns – a looser, more abstract botanical motif

  • Twisted Willow – a fully abstract design with a modern, sculptural feel

Twisted Willow

This design is inspired by the twisted willow structures one can create as a natural support in the garden. Lora’s love of gardening, nature and form is translated into an abstract twisting pattern. Machine stitched on her free motion embroidery machine.Adding a subtle element of interest to window treatment, whilst still allowing the light to shine through without compromising on privacy.

To make ordering your curtain as straight forward as possible, we have made three size brackets (A, B, & C) focusing on the differences in widths of the curtains rather than the length. Choose the size bracket which fits your width from the drop down menu. See illustrations in the pictures to see how that will effect the design. Product information and ordering

Please read through the information about this product and use our measuring guide to help measure your curtains before ordering.

  • Materials

    Base fabric: Made from 100% white Irish Linen 

    Embroidery: rayon and cotton threads. 

  • To keep things simple, we are offering three size brackets:

    A

    • Width: 50-70cm

    • Length: minimum 50cm, up to 130cm

    B

    • Width: 71-100cm

    • Length: minimum 50cm, up to 130cm

    C

    • Width: 101-130cm

    • Length: minimum 50cm, up to 130cm

    For curtain lengths measuring under 50cm or over 130cm long please contact us for a quote.

    Positioning of the embroidery within the designs will vary slightly depending on the size, of the curtain panel. Photographs of the panels fit within the B price bracket. Please see the illustrations for the smaller (A) and larger (C) bracket options. These will give you an idea of the slight variation on the design. The size of the embroidery will not change, just the number of elements and spacing.  See illustrations for  embroidery scales.

    If the curtain size you are looking for that is smaller or larger than what we are offering within our price brackets, please contact us directly for a quote (hello@loraavedian.com).

  • All our cafe curtains are made as flat panels to show off the embroidery design. This means there is little gather to the fabric, we will make the panel to the dimensions you give us when you fill out a short form during the purchase process. Before you order your curtain, please make sure you read our measuring guide. This will help ensure the curtain sits just right. 

  • The loop along the top of the curtain will fit a curtain pole up to a standard 16mm width, it will also work with a curtain wire, or clips. We do not provide curtain poles or any hardware with our curtains, but you can contact us if you are looking for recommended suppliers. 

    If you would like any variation such as; more fabric so the curtain is gathered, or a different kind of fixing along the top of your curtain such as curtain tape, or us to work on any other curtain style, please contact us.

  • Curtains are made to order. Please expect a lead time of 3-6 weeks from your order date. The speed in which your order is made is depending on how busy we are at the studio. If you need your order sooner please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate your needs

  • Due to the bespoke nature of our cafe curtains, we aren't able to accept returns. However, sometimes mistakes are made, if there is an issue with your order, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to find a solution where possible.

  • To maintain your curtain panel we recommend gently dusting or vacuuming your curtains regularly. Use a soft nozzle and gently run along the fabric to remove dust and dirty that otherwise can stick to the textile. Use a steamer on the back of the embroidery to minimise creasing created over time.

    • In case of staining/dirt we always recommend spot treatment as a first step. Clean with warm water on a white cloth - gently dab the fabric and finish by steaming - let dry.

    • In case of more substantial staining/dirt we recommend dry cleaning. Always make sure that your local dry cleaner has the correct competence and tools to manage your stain and will use techniques that will not damage the embroidery.
